One of the new laws prohibits the printing of books written by Russian citizens, unless the authors renounce their Russian citizenship and become Ukrainians. The ban applies to those who had Russian citizenship after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.

It will also be forbidden to import books printed in Russia, Belarus and occupied Ukrainian territory for commercial purposes. A special permit will be required to import books in Russian from all other countries.

Another of the new laws makes it forbidden to play music created by people who have been Russian citizens after 1991 in the media and in public transport.

The laws must be signed by President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to take effect, but according to Reuters, there is no indication that he opposes the proposals, which were widely supported by parliament.
