Iran has executed two people for insulting Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the holy book of Islam, Quran. This information was given in a report of Mizan, a website related to the country’s judicial department, on Monday.

It is said that two persons named Yusuf Mehrdad and Sadrullah Fazeli Jarre have been executed for insulting the religion of Islam, the Holy Prophet and the Holy Quran.

The country’s media reported that the two accused ran dozens of anti-religious online platforms promoting Islamophobia, atheism and desecration of holy scriptures.

In March 2021, one of the two admitted to posting derogatory comments on social media, Mizan said. However, various international human rights organizations say that such confessions are being forced in Iran. At various times they have also condemned the Iranian authorities.

The international human rights organization Amnesty International has condemned this latest case of execution for blasphemy in Iran.

After China, Iran executes the most people in the world. Last month, a report by two human rights organizations, Norway-based Iran Human Rights and Paris-based Together Against the Death Penalty, said that Iran executed 582 people in 2022. Which is 75 percent more than the previous year.

Iran has executed at least 151 people this year alone, the two organizations said.
