A group of miscreants have been accused of raping a 19-year-old girl while returning home from Shibchar market in Madaripur.
The incident took place on May 8 in Kandi area of Taher Shikdar of Shikdar Hat Char area of Padma river in Bandarkhola union of Shibchar upazila.
However, when the case was filed on Sunday (May 14) night, the police arrested two persons named Sagar (19) and Al Amin (24). It is said that the police operation to arrest the rest is continuing.
The arrested are the son of Abu Khalasi of Kandi village of Taher Shikdar of Sagar Bandarkhola Union and Al Amin is the son of Falan Sheikh of the area.
The day laborer father of the girl complained that he could not take her to the police station immediately after the incident due to the fear of being poor and the girl being ill at the same time. Later, when the matter came to light, the locals took refuge and filed a case against the accused 4 youths on Sunday night.
According to the details of the case and local sources, the 19-year-old girl from a poor day laborer’s family in the Kandi area of Moshalem Moulvir of Bandarkhola Union of Shivchar went to the local Shikdar Hat market to buy clothes on the afternoon of May 8. While returning home in the evening, the accused who were hanging out on Shikdarhat Sakina Setu stopped the girl and asked for her mobile number.
The miscreants followed the girl as she hurriedly walked home without giving the number. When he reached a secluded place, he pressed his face from behind and forced him to a jute field next to him and raped him. At one point, when the locals came forward shouting, the miscreants ran away. And they threatened not to tell anyone about this incident.
When the incident came to light, on Sunday night after 6 days, Hasan Molla (21), son of Bakkas Molla, Mehdi Shikder (21), son of Lal Mia Shikder, Sagar Khalasi (19), son of Abu Khalasi, and Al Amin Sheikh alias Zila Sheikh, son of Falan Sheikh, of that union filed a complaint. The victim girl filed a case. After that, the police entered the field to arrest the accused.
