Twitter Just Resurrected Old Deleted Tweets From Thousands Of Users

A well-known podcaster and an editor at The Verge have exposed a problem with Twitter. The platform is returning deleted tweets and retweets.

If you are a Twitter user, we recommend that at this precise moment you go to your application and check your feed, you could be in for a disappointing surprise, as it has recently been released a small, but annoying “bug” related to deleted tweets and retweetsthese have reappeared in the profiles.

After the improvements in Twitter direct messages and video calls, a very annoying bug has surfaced for many users. That’s right, as if it were an Elon Musk joke, James Vincent, editor of The Verge, revealed that many of his deleted tweets had returned. Yeah, posts that he had deleted a while ago were back on his profile.

Many users are affected by the problem of deleted posts that return to Twitter

However, the problem did not end there, because after doing a little research, Vincent realized that he was not the only one affected and many other users were going through the same thing.

Podcaster Dick Morrell also shared via Mastodon your bad experience with this problem. Additionally, Morrell told the site ZDNET what 400 people have already contacted him to see the error.

Last November I deleted all my Tweets. Each. I then ran Redact and deleted all my likes, media and retweets. 38 thousand tweets have gone… For six months I have had sub 5 tweets online. I woke up today to find 34,000 of them restored by Twitter, which presumably brought a backup from a server farm. Now it is removed again. Although Vincent cannot explain the extent of this bug currently, it could be deduced that is caused by a problem with the Twitter server Or, the changes made to the platform could have brought a type of failure with third-party applications that made it easier for Vincent, Morrell and others to delete their tweets without needing to use Twitter.

Let’s hope that Elon Musk can provide information on this problem as quickly as he allied with Spotify to attack Apple’s policies that were affecting some Twitter adjustments and that a solution can be found for those affected.
