Twitter has officially made it possible to edit your own tweets. But you have to pay for it

  • Twitter is finally adding the ability to edit tweets
  • The feature is only available in a few countries
  • But it has one (small) catch…

Almost all users of this platform are waiting for the possibility to edit tweets. We all know that feeling after we send a tweet and then notice an error we missed in the tweet. The long-discussed feature is finally available in the first countries.

How will editing tweets work?

Twitter is well aware that this functionality could be abused. After all, that’s allegedly why Twitter took so long to add such a simple feature. Therefore, he took some measures to prevent, for example, someone rewriting his own tweet for his own enrichment, which many people had previously retweeted and interested in because of its content.

Therefore, the company decided to limit the ability to edit a tweet only in the first thirty minutes, after which it will no longer be possible. All other users will of course see the history of the tweet, i.e. all its previous versions. The number of edits should also be limited.

We will have to wait in the Czech Republic

The biggest drawback remains the availability of this function. In order to be able to edit tweets, you will need a subscription Twitter Blue. But this is only available in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, so users in Europe are out of luck for now. In the United States, the function has not even been launched yet, only in the other mentioned states. The subscription there costs 4.99 dollars, i.e. about 125 crowns.

Twitter apparently wants to make sure as much as possible that people use the feature mainly to fix bugs and not abuse the new feature. Whether the company will make the ability to edit tweets available to people without a subscription has not yet been announced. It is also not clear when we could subscribe to Twitter Blue in Europe.
