Trump – the first US president to be indicted twice, his fate will now be decided by the Senate

223 Members of the House of Representatives voted in favor of impeaching the President, 197 against, 5 members did not vote.

Republican D. Trump’s impeachment was supported by at least 10 of his fellow parties.

However, Trump has already become the first US president to be formally charged with official crimes for the second time.

The indictment will now be handed over to the Senate, which will decide the fate of Trump. The removal of the president should be approved by two-thirds of the 100 senators.

Usually the Senate votes according to the party line, D. Trump was acquitted in 2019 due to the votes of Republican senators. The president was then accused of forcing the Ukrainian leader to find politically compromising material about his rival Joe Biden.

This time, however, Trump is accused of “inciting the uprising.” This is in connection with a speech on January 6, in which he again claimed to be the real winner of the election and called on his supporters to march to “Congress” and “fight”. Then his supporters invaded the Capitol, devastating him, killing five people.

Trump’s behavior also outraged his supporters in the Republican Party. According to a CNN source, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is sending signals to support the impeachment.

The House of Representatives passed a resolution on Tuesday evening calling on U.S. Vice President Mike Pence and the administration to remove Trump on the basis of the 25th constitutional amendment as incapable of holding office.

However, Pence refused to initiate a presidential removal procedure.

Trump himself, who has now lost his main communication channel – an account on the social network Twitter – on Tuesday called the preparation for the impeachment “absolutely” funny and “witch hunt”.
