Trump does not mention impeachment in speech | Abroad

In the video, Trump once again condemned the attack on the parliament building. Although he gave varying signals to his followers that night, Trump says in Wednesday’s video that a “true supporter” of his would not tolerate political violence and the assailants “do not support our movement.”

The president calls on everyone who supports his policies to try to ease social tensions. Trump further called on Americans to “get over the passions of the moment.”

Although the second impeachment procedure is not mentioned by Trump, the difference in the video with its usual tone and rhetoric is striking. On Tuesday, the outgoing president seemed still brimming with confidence when he said in a speech before the Mexican border wall that he was not worried about an accelerated impeachment process. That procedure, not the impeachment, but impeachment for cases where the president can no longer perform his duties, is “zero risk to me,” Trump said Tuesday.

The video was posted on a Twitter page called The White House. Trump’s own account and page has been suspended by Twitter as a result of the storming of the Capitol.
