Only 6% were vaccinated and exhausted
“The passport for opportunities has probably been exhausted,” the head of the country’s chief adviser on economic and social policy told Radio News on Tuesday. “New ways need to be found, it needs to be overhauled in response to questions about how we will continue to manage the pandemic.”
According to I. Segalovičienė, the passport of opportunities was first and foremost an epidemiological means to control the pandemic and the flow of people, but it was supposed to not become a political pressure to get vaccinated.
“It simply came to our notice then. The same goal can be achieved in a variety of other ways. The most sustainable way is to raise people’s awareness, “she said.
The counselor mentioned a comprehensive sociological study whose authors assessed the reasons why the population is vaccinated. The study, she said, found that the passport to vaccination was boosted by only 6 percent. people.
“We have seen that the majority is over 50%. people – vaccinate out of awareness, only 6 percent. respondents were encouraged to get vaccinated passports, I.Segalovičienė spoke. “It’s a figure that shows people’s awareness on the one hand, and the ineffectiveness of the passport to the political expectation of vaccination on the other.”
For younger people, the passport is more important
As a portal 15min The President’s Adviser Ridas Jasiulionis informed him that the radio show was commissioned by LRT „Norstat LT ”November 3-24. a representative survey of the Lithuanian population was conducted.
Its results, obtained by telephone and online survey of 1,000 Lithuanian adults, were reviewed on the portal in early December. lrt.lt. Respondents were asked how they valued the opportunity passport and who was most motivated to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
56 percent respondents indicated that they had been vaccinated to protect against coronavirus in general or at least a severe form of the disease. Vaccinated for the opportunity passport actually indicated 6 percent. people (this was the second most important reason). The same goes for the chances of losing your job.
Half the number of vaccinations was caused by the pressure of the relatives, only 1%. respondents indicated that they were persuaded by a doctor.
Priorities varied considerably with age. The younger the group of respondents, the weaker the desire to protect themselves against coronavirus or a severe form of the disease (46% of people under 44 were the most important).
In the 18-24 and 25-34 age groups, the main reason for vaccination is as high as 13 percent. and 14 percent. the respondents were just a passport to opportunities.
Interestingly, in the groups from the age of 35, the importance of a passport was several times lower than in the age group, but in the age group 65-74 its importance increased again (to an average of 6%). Only the chiefs themselves made almost no mention of the passport as an incentive to vaccinate.
By the way, more than half of the respondents – 53 percent. (especially in the senior group) rated the passport as a viable option and only 37% indicated the opposite.
Restrictions improved vaccination statistics
The passport for individuals with immunity to COVID-19 or a negative coronavirus test was approved by the government in May last year. True, its emergence was driven more by a desire to help a variety of businesses than by encouraging people to get vaccinated.
But in the middle of July, the Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė hinted to journalists that, as the epidemiological situation would not improve and young people – the most active and mobile – would be vaccinated especially slowly, more and more activities would be available only with a passport.
From 13 September, the conditions for applying for an opportunity passport have been tightened. It has become mandatory even in some essentials and all non-essentials stores, catering establishments, beauty salons, other service, leisure and entertainment establishments, events and so on.
Analyzing the country vaccination activity of the population, a certain reaction to the knowledge about the use of the opportunity passport can be seen.
