Dear Readers, after my visit to the construction of the shipping canal through the Vistula Spit in June, I made a promise that I will report on the opening on September 17. On the anniversary of the commencement of a special operation by the Red Army in the eastern territories of the Republic of Poland, aimed at realizing the dreams of parents, today’s most ardent defenders of appropriated (allegedly) democracy.
Unfortunately, other intelligence tasks await me on this day in Sardinia, so I cannot be here and here. Therefore, yesterday I decided to make a trial opening of the channel. The course of the ceremony was extremely solemn. At the beginning, we went to the port in Kąty Rybackie, where I put on a guard of honor in front of the monument to the fathers – builders of the canal. Leaning on a shovel.
Let us agree that without this shovel, without their initiative, effort and determination with which they started digging, the investment would never have been realized (see a shabby shovel). Róża Thun und so weiter, and Pomeranian local government officials, will never be forgotten, because it cannot be overestimated. Hello and praise to them.
And let their monument continue like a brass strip cut into the pavement of the Greenwich Observatory. After the main part of the ceremony we went – all in larks – to the right place in Skowronki. An impressive sight. A piece of good, solid hydrotechnical work.
The only thing that is in progress is the assembly of movable boards diverting traffic – depending on the needs – to the south or north bridge. My only complaint is too tight roundabouts. Although the roundabouts are huge, the lane is too narrow. How can I fit in a set with a trailer?
Only the sanitary facilities of the canal builders remain to be cleaned. They will.
The actual ending of the ceremony took place in the trailer after buying a half-liter bottle of “Stegna” vodka in the Dino market in Stegna, because it got nostalgic after a three-day observation of the keys of wild geese flying away somewhere far away. And the storks on Saint Bartholomew. And we fly further east. There must be some civilization there. We have been packing up our belongings since the morning and we are on our way. There are over 400 km ahead of us to the eastern borders of the Republic of Poland. Goodbye and see you soon.
Tractor and semitrailer tied up. The set is ready for the road ahead of us 411 km.
PS. As the readers probably noticed, there are no pictures of the ladybird in the report. Unfortunately, I regret to inform you that due to some radar interference (proximity to the Russian border), the ladybird broke off the controller, did not activate the return home function, did not respond to the locator and probably rests somewhere in the twisted crowns of Jantarske pines. Honor his memory !
