Trade unions and Deutsche Bahn talks – more strikes in Germany in case of failure

Following the cancellation of the two-day warning strike at Deutsche Bahn, the railway and transport union (EVG) wants to continue negotiations with DB as soon as possible.

“Negotiations must be constructive this time around,” the union said. “For this, the foundation must be laid very quickly.” The purpose of the short-term discussions is to prepare for the official talks, which are scheduled in Fulda in about a week.

“Deutsche Bahn has made it clear in the labor court that it will comply with our minimum wage requirements. Against this background, we can start negotiations – provided that the employer keeps his word. Otherwise, it will not be difficult for us to call a new strike at any time starting Wednesday,” warned EVG.

Cancellation as soon as possible

After the Frankfurt Labor Court brokered an agreement with the railways on the minimum wage, the union called off the strike. At the same time, according to EVG, the call for a strike for some private rail companies remains in place. Only the strike at Deutsche Bahn was cancelled.
