Toyota Land Cruiser 300 – new generation without V8

After 14 years, it’s finally time for a new generation of Toyota’s largest Land Cruiser. This time without V8.

The predecessor Land Cruiser 200 (J200) was launched in 2007, two and later came the smaller version J150 which is sold in Sweden as a Land Cruiser 150. The latter was updated relatively recently with a more powerful engine.

The new Toyota Land Cruiser 300 is a completely new car built on the new TNGA-F platform, which is said to provide better off-road characteristics and lower weight. The new Land Cruiser 300 is 200 kilos lighter than its predecessor.

The newly designed wheel suspension should provide more road contact than previous generations. The car can read the ground in front of the car (Multi-Terrain Monitor) and adjust the car’s settings to provide higher comfort and better passability.

The J200 series offered V8 engines, but they are considered thirsty. Instead, new V6s with dual turbochargers. The petrol version has a 3.5-liter cylinder volume and is expected to provide 415 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque. 0-100 km / h should go in 6.7 seconds. The diesel is 3.3 liters and provides 310 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque.

New safety and assistance systems will of course also to reduce the risk of accidents and facilitate parking.

Toyota Land Cruiser 300 will be sold in Europe, but it is unclear if it will come to Sweden. In some markets, the sports version GR Sport will be sold.
