Marie ETCHEGOYEN / M6
TELEVISION – He was already a favorite with viewers. After integrating the kitchens of “Top Chef 2021”As a solitary candidate, Jarvis Scott left the contest during episode 2 of Wednesday February 17 on M6.
Before becoming chef de partie alongside the Barcelona restaurateur Albert Adrià, Jarvis Scott completed several internships in major Parisian establishments: Le Carré des Feuillants and Arpège. A promising start to his career for the 24-year-old young man who claims to have had to work hard to enter this universe, only 6 years ago: “There is not a guy who is born with a golden hand, therefore I gave myself and now I’m here ”, he explains to HuffPost. It is with this same thirst for success that the candidate for cowboy boots embarked on the adventure “Top chef”.
After his elimination, he agreed to answer a few questions asked by The HuffPost:
Why did you want to participate in “Top Chef”?
The production called me every year. Either I refused, or the castings were not going well. For this new season, M6 reminded me. I had just separated from a girl I loved a lot and to get my head out of the water, I decided to go for it. So it starts from a great heartache.
What did you miss to go further in the competition?
I think what I missed is a team. When setting up the brigades, I wanted to be with chef Philippe Etchebest. But with this lone candidate rule, I would have taken anyone. Mathematically, we are less likely to go out when we are in a team. When we’re all messing around, the chef chooses a person and that won’t necessarily be you. Since I entered the competition as a lone candidate, I went straight to the last chance if I messed up, and it didn’t fail.
What do you remember from your short adventure?
“Top Chef” is an exceptional human adventure. We were all confined together in the same hotel. We really spent all of our days together, even when off. I got along well with everyone, but especially with Matthias. So I’m really holding back people, candidates, nannies and great staff.
What is your best memory of your two weeks of participation?
I think these are the comments of the chefs when I left. To hear them say that I am a very sensitive person, that we will meet again, and then Paul Pairet who says that it is one of the best tartars he has eaten. These are really comments that moved me to tears.
Do you have a filming anecdote to share?
The first episode where I slip with my cowboy boots. It was picked up on all social networks, and the journalist assigned to me told me that I would be zapping (laughs).
What are your future plans?
I have projects in Paris which unfortunately I cannot talk about yet. When the restaurants reopen, I think we’ll make some noise. I will make the announcement in due course on social media.
What is your prognosis for the final?
I could see Matthias and Thomas go to the final. These are two guys that I love and who, for me, are very good cooks and humanly, they are beautiful people.
