Prague – Today, people in about 1,300 stores throughout the Czech Republic can participate in the autumn food collection between 08:00 and 18:00. Durable food and drugstore goods can be donated from Tuesday to November 30 through the online supermarkets Rohlik.cz, Košík.cz and iTesco.
This year’s autumn food collection takes place in a record number of stores, specifically in 1318. Selected stores of the chains Albert, Billa, dm drogerie markt, Globus, Kaufland, Lidl, Makro, Penny, Rossmann and Tesco are involved. People can find the nearest store on the web. According to the president of the Trade and Tourism Association of the Czech Republic, Tomáš Prouza, employees of retail chains in 310 of them also participated in the preparation and implementation of the involved stores. The food collection has been held twice a year since 2019, and the spring round did not take place last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The collection is organized by the Czech Federation of Food Banks. This spring, traders selected 405 tons of food and 45 tons of drugstore goods for the needy. The aid goes to abandoned seniors, single mothers, families in crisis, homeless people or people with mental and physical disabilities.
