Today, on Saturday, June 5, local government elections are being held in Latvia. Polling stations across the country operate from 7:00 to 20:00.

Voters need to have an identity document with them – a passport or ID-card, a protective mask and their own fountain pen.

At polling stations, the norm of 4 square meters is observed. m. per person, so the number of voters allowed at the same time is marked at the entrance, and you need to be ready to wait, if necessary, your turn on the street.

This year, at the entrance to the polling station, identity cards are checked using a special application on a smartphone, that is, without a stamp in the passport.

Voters should remember the correct voting order! Ballots are considered valid when a “plus” is placed next to the name and surname of a potential candidate, or if the name and surname are completely crossed out.

All other signs placed in front of the surname of the candidate for deputy: crosses, minuses and ticks will not be taken into account when counting votes, and the ballots themselves will be considered invalid.

More information about the elections to self-government can be found on the single reference telephone of the Central Election Commission 67049999.

Today, any political campaigning at the polling stations themselves or within a radius of 50 meters from them is strictly prohibited. Any violations in this regard can be reported to the Bureau for Combating and Prevention of Corruption at phone 80002070, to the State Police or the local government police.
