Prague – CTK will send the TC of the Minister of Health Jan Blatný today from 09:00 to continuously evaluate the development of the covid-19 epidemic.

The coronavirus epidemic in the Czech Republic is not subsiding. Tests revealed another 8,745 cases of covid-19 on Monday, nearly a thousand more than on the same day last week. The week-on-week increase in the number of infected patients thus continues for several days in a row. The number of people with covid in hospitals increased by about two hundred to 5990 compared to the previous day, 1130 of them were in serious condition. This follows from current data on the website of the Ministry of Health.

Since the outbreak of the epidemic last March, almost 1.1 million people in the Czech Republic have been demonstrably infected, of which 18,430 have died and almost 979,000 have recovered in the meantime. Currently infected is 102,475.

According to the Ministry of Health, the epidemic situation in the country is serious and hospitals are still on the edge of their capacities, especially intensive care units. According to current data, there are 184 beds for covid patients left in ICU and ARO units throughout the country. Other free capacities are still on the so-called reprofiled beds, ie those that were originally intended to provide care of another type or expertise. The situation is worse in the Czech Republic than in the Moravian regions.
