Tips for the cold – Where can you take your child in bad weather?

There are good programs at any time

What entertainment options can we offer the child if it’s cold outside, the wind is blowing and even the snowflakes are already falling? The playground is out of the question in this case, but we can come up with other programs for him in bad or cold weather.

Toddlers are less deterred by bad weather. While adults would prefer to curl up on the couch, hiding in a blanket with a good book or movie, the lurkers run around with inexhaustible energy and would even hit the cold, snowy street right now.

If they don’t occupy themselves with games at home, it’s worth inventing a meaningful program for them, even for the whole afternoon. Fortunately, both in the countryside and in the capital, we can find programs, performances and activities specifically for children. In addition to the various crafts and other activities found in the playhouses and cultural centers, we can even take the seedlings to theaters and museums in case of cold or bad weather.

Theater, puppet show

The children’s and puppet theaters are available all year round with fabulous performances that all children will enjoy. The Kolibri Theater in Budapest, the Babszem Jankó Children’s Theater in Eger and the Szentrendrei Children’s Theater and Creative Theater Studio are specifically children’s theaters.

Puppet theaters can be found all over the country: in Budapest, Győr, Zalaegerszeg, Pécs, Veszprém, Szombathely, Eger, Miskolc, Debrecen, Kecskemét, Békéscsaba and Szeged, you can sit in on an entertaining show in cold, bad weather.

Let’s raise children who love to read!

Natural wonders and going back in time

If the wonders of nature, animals, and experiments can really capture the attention of the lurker, then the Budapest Planetarium, Tropicarium or the Palace of Miracles will be an unsurpassed experience for him.

Museums also offer plenty of attractions for children – not only in bad or cold weather. Natural science and agricultural museums can be especially fun for them, but of course it is also worth considering what topics are of interest to little boys and girls. Girls can enjoy the doll museum (in Keszthely), boys can have fun in the military history or railway history park, and representatives of both sexes may also be interested in the teddy bear museum, which can be visited in Rákóczifalva. And when it comes to games, the Szórakaténusz Toy Museum and Workshop in Kecskemét is not to be missed!

Deep in caves

Visiting a cave is refreshing fun and a great adventure for the whole family – an ideal program in bad weather. Among them is the well-known Aggtelek stalactite cave, but we can find many “relatives” throughout the country. In the capital, the Pál valley stalactite cave and the Szemlő mountain cave are on the way, the Solymár Ördöglyuk in nearby Solymár, and the Anna and István caves in the Bükk locality.

In Esztergom, the family can visit the Sátorkőpuszta cave, the spring cave in Tapolca, and the stalactite cave in Abaliget.

The bunker under the Csepel hill or the Tamarisk hill can be a big favorite of the little boys.
