Three lives saved with organs donated by the family of a brain-dead patient
At the County Emergency Hospital “Dr Constantin Opriş” Baia-Mare, a new organ harvesting operation was performed on a brain-dead patient, whose family agreed to offer a new chance at life to unknown people.
The operation was attended, together with the ATI team and the coordination of the hospital from Baia Mare, by doctors from the Emergency Clinical Institute and Renal Transplant Cluj, who took the kidneys and the liver.
The transplant interventions were performed at the Fundeni Liver Transplant Center, where a 59-year-old patient, in critical condition, received a new chance at life, and two other patients in chronic hemodialysis received kidneys at ICUTR Cluj.
