Three capitals in one day. Salon24 on a trip with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki

Today, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki visited three European capitals which, like Poland, are struggling with the migration crisis on the border with Belarus. From early in the morning, Salon24 accompanied the head of government on this difficult route.

Sunday was very intense for the prime minister. Mateusz Morawiecki visited three countries today. The day started at 4:30 at the airport, from which we departed at 5:30 to the capital of Estonia – Tallinn.

Mateusz Morawiecki in Estonia

At At 7:00 a.m. Polish time, a visit with Kaja Kallas – head of the Estonian government is planned.

During the conference, we heard an important declaration from the Estonian prime minister – Kallas assured that the Estonian Border Guard would support Polish units guarding the borders of Poland and the entire European Union.

She also stressed that the interests and goals of Poland and the Baltic states in terms of the migration crisis are the same.

During the conference, a question was asked from the Estonian broadcaster about how the Polish Prime Minister assesses the aid received from the European Union.

– The reactions of the EU and NATO members are good and show a great understanding of what is happening at the border – replied Mateusz Morawiecki. “I think this is a sign of a sober view of this threat, which is a hybrid threat,” he added.

After the meeting with the Prime Minister of Estonia, Mateusz Morawiecki published a post on Facebook in which he assured once again that the Polish assessment of the security situation in the region was consistent with the Estonian one.

Morawiecki’s meeting with the Prime Minister of Lithuania Ingrida Szimonyte

Immediately after the conference in Estonia, we went to the plane that flew to Lithuania. The schedule for the day was extremely tight – the return to Warsaw was scheduled for 4:00 pm, so it’s no wonder that we arrived in Vilnius late.

The Prime Minister of Lithuania, like the Prime Minister of Estonia, emphasized that the Baltic states have a similar vision when it comes to policy on migrants. She also commented on the Polish-Estonian cooperation.

– Our cooperation is exemplary, but there are still opportunities to strengthen this cooperation – said the head of the Lithuanian government.

Long visit to Riga

The Riga conference took place almost two hours later than planned. The prime minister had a long talk with the Latvian prime minister Krishjanis Karinsh.

The issues of energy security as well as information warfare were discussed during the conference. Morawiecki has repeatedly emphasized how President Lukashenka uses the Western media in his case. – The propaganda of the Belarusian regime, with which European countries are already accustomed, is becoming a medium and a driving force for the machine of spreading fake news – said the Polish Prime Minister.

In turn, the Latvian prime minister pointed out that the visit of the Polish prime minister was very important as it confirms the common position of the Baltic states on the current crisis.

The prime minister was upset

The whole journey took place in a rather tense atmosphere due to the rush that had accompanied us since landing in Estonia. The Prime Minister was rather unavailable during the delegation. He did not talk to journalists, which can be blamed on exhaustion caused by difficult talks with the heads of government of the Baltic states.

During his visit to Lithuania, the prime minister was clearly upset. It is difficult to say whether it was due to the delay or the difficult conversation with Ingrida Szimonyte.
