Venture company Index Ventures made up rating of the most favorable countries for the development of startups. The list is topped by 3 Baltic countries: Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. About it reports portal Tech.eu.
Three Baltic countries topped the ranking of the most favorable countries for startups
According to the venture capital firm, new reforms late last year have turned these countries into the region with the most favorable policies in the world. Innovations make it easier for startups to attract and retain talent.
Thus, the reform provided tax incentives to employees of Latvian, Lithuanian and Estonian startups. She also reduced the time it takes to hold an option on a company’s stock before cashing it out.
“These policy changes will be welcome news for Latvian and Lithuanian startups, but now the rest of Europe and the European Union need to follow suit,” said Martin Mignot, Partner at Index Ventures.
In total, the rating includes 24 countries, 20 of which are located in Europe. Also on the list are Israel, Canada, USA and Australia.
The top 5 also includes Israel and Canada. They are inferior to the Baltic states in matters of taxation of companies and their employees, as well as in the level of option exercise prices.
Russia was not taken into account by the compilers of the rating.
