Three air-conditioned rooms open in view of the heat


The Municipality of Athens will put into operation three air-conditioned rooms from today, Tuesday 13 July, to protect the vulnerable groups of the city from the high temperatures.

The air-conditioned areas, which will remain open until the end of the phenomenon and will have opening hours from 8.00 to 21.00, are the following:

1. “The Ascension of the Lord” Friendship Club, Heldrich 15, New World,

The premises will strictly observe all the rules of hygiene and safety provided under the instructions of the National Agency for Public Health for Covid -19. The use of a mask will be mandatory throughout the stay of citizens in the area, the minimum distance of one and a half meters between people will be observed, while the maximum number of people per area will not exceed 30 people.

At the same time, the streetwork teams of the Reception and Solidarity Center of the Municipality of Athens (K.Y.A.D.A.) with additional shifts, will continue their work intensively during the hot days. During their on-site interventions on the homeless population, the streetwork teams will provide cool water and basic necessities, inform the municipality about the operation of the air-conditioned spaces and provide instructions for protection from the heat.
