Švejdar announced his decision to apply for dismissal in mid-December. He published the information after meeting with the Minister of the Interior Vít Rakušan (STAN) at the beginning of the month. The Austrian was not yet appointed at the time.

He added that he did not want to block negotiations between the ministry and the police and also did not want to be “an excuse for the police to be dishonored in some way”.
