BMW’s design department reimagined the traditional silhouette of elegant sports cars based on the unique body concept of the Shooting Brake models. Into the passenger compartment, the precise leather-covered surfaces that praise the craftsmanship of the Italian manufactory Poltrona Frau smuggle in a dazzlingly luxurious atmosphere. The luggage compartment behind the seats offers plenty of space for the luggage of any spontaneous outing; the luggage exclusively manufactured for the dimensions of the luggage compartment was made by the Schedoni leather manufactory in Modena.

A rare model special that pays tribute to the timeless passion of driving
During the weekend of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2023, the world premiere of the BMW Concept Touring Coupé concept car will be spotlighted on a historic stage. In the ring of historical wonders of the automotive industry, the unique model, which is rare, rolls out to the public for the first time in the crowned celebration of several decades of experience and fandom, bowing its head to the timeless passion of driving. “The BMW Concept Touring Coupé study car celebrates the classic driving experience” – said Domagoj Dukec, head of BMW’s design department. “The corresponding models, imbued with emotions, bring to life the experience of driving that has been loved for decades and will not change in the future” he added.

The one-of-a-kind, handmade BMW Concept Touring Coupé study car combines a body concept rooted in tradition with the refined technology of modern sports cars. Its name and proportions refer to the BMW 328 Touring Coupé model, which also won the Mille Miglia long-distance competition in 1940. The functionality designed along the unique body concept of the Shooting Brake models is also a kind of main drive before the BMW 02 series of the 1970s, which included both limousine and Touring models. The study car’s rear styling and interior design were inspired by the “Touring” model designation of its historical predecessor. The BMW Concept Touring Coupé study car is powered by the brand’s legendary in-line six-cylinder engine, with performance characteristics and refinements that embody a pure, classic driving experience.

Body design: breathtaking proportions and exclusive details
The wedge of the body design of the BMW Concept Touring Coupé study car is the rear design shaped like a work of art. The form starting from the gracefully sloping roof arch, which gently merges with the wheel arch curves, accentuates the concept’s athletic stance, while the harmony of the narrow rear window and the elegant body surfaces suggests the confident appearance of the model. From the side view, you can immediately recognize the characteristic BMW proportions designed along the unique body concept of the Shooting Brake models. The long bonnet, streamlined roofline and powerful rear design are paired with an elegantly elongated window strip ending in the Hofmeister kink style and sporty wheel arches that emphasize the model’s sporty elegance.

The Sparkling Lario body paint shade was specially mixed by the specialists for the BMW Concept Touring Coupé study car. The overall effect of gray-brown shades sprinkled with blue glass flakes gives the impression of a uniquely deep color. The unique BMW radiator grille with longitudinal slats and decor inserts in silver bronze add to the captivating effect. The captivating color scheme continues on the exclusive 20-inch front and 21-inch rear light-alloy wheels, which with their complex design and understated gold-plated surfaces bring to life the elegant sportiness of the concept.

Interior design: craftsmanship at the highest level
The atmosphere of the passenger compartment of the BMW Concept Touring Coupé study car is determined by the instrument panel facing the driver, as well as by the unit of maximum attention to the use of materials, color composition and craftsmanship. The exclusive, two-tone leather of the Italian manufacturer Poltrona Frau comes to life through the harmony of two main segments: the dark brown tone of the upper part of the passenger compartment helps concentration on driving, while the light saddle brown shade of the lower part reinforces the comfortable, warming feeling of the passenger compartment.

The extremely precise joints and seams, as well as the woven leather of the seating surfaces and elbow supports, bring to life the highest level of craftsmanship applied in the passenger compartment, combining the traditions inherent in craftsmanship and the formal solutions of the modern age. Thanks to the cooperation of the Schedoni leather manufactory in Modena, the exclusive luggage space of the BMW Concept Touring Coupé study car is also defined by the duality of a similarly high level of craftsmanship and maximum attention to detail. The set, manufactured exclusively for the dimensions of the luggage compartment, consists of two large pieces of luggage and one smaller piece of luggage, as well as a garment bag, which in all respects have been dreamed up according to the characteristics of the one-of-a-kind closed two-seater concept.
