This is what will happen online every 60 seconds in 2022 [infographic]

Enter a search query, like a Facebook message, binge-watch the latest episodes of your favorite series, post a holiday photo on Instagram, send an email to your customer, send an app to your colleague… Today we are extremely busy with activities that find places online. Whether it concerns social media, mail or surfing, we can hardly do without. But how active are we actually online, what happens every 60 seconds?

Every year during this period of the year we post a recurring infographic of DOMO. Every year they take stock and collect facts and figures about the use of the internet, apps and other online activities, asking how much data is generated online in 60 seconds. They have again visualized the results in an infographic this year, as you can see below.

Amazing numbers

I still continue to be amazed at how many activities take place online, let alone in 1 minute. Look at your watch and trace 1 minute from the hands, then look at the data from the visual below. Just bizarre and dizzying. New in this version (now number 10) is the use of well-known (social media) platforms in 2013 compared to this year. You see a large increase everywhere and a modest increase with email.

But back to the question of what concerns us in the online world, in other words what happens in 60 seconds? Among other things, about 500 hours of video are placed on YouTube and about 11 million hours are streamed. More than 231 million emails are sent and about 16 million text messages. And on Facebook, 1.7 million of content is shared and about 2.4 million snaps are sent on Snapchat.
