Google’s search function is getting a makeover. From now on, the focus is on presenting the results as simply and clearly as possible. This is what the Google Search redesign looks like.
Google Search gets a redesign
Google says that with the redesign of Google Search, it will focus more on information and less on form. This can be seen, for example, in the disappearance of the “header” at the top of the results. Instead of a large block that stands out from the rest of the design, the page now has a uniform look. This should ensure that users find what they are looking for faster.
A friendlier look
Furthermore, the search filters, with which you limit the results to, for example, photos or news, now have lowercase letters instead of capital letters. That gives a slightly friendlier appearance. The same goes for the subtopics within a search. In the case of the whale above, these include ‘Characteristics’ and ‘Sounds’. They are also placed in oval buttons. The photos now also have rounded corners. Google itself speaks of a “bubble-like” design, which better reflects the company’s logo.
If you scroll further down, you will see that the search results are no longer as a tile in the background. They now run from edge to edge. This allowed Google to limit the use of shadows, resulting in a minimalistic look.
In addition, Google wanted to make the search results easier to read. In many places, therefore, larger, bold letters are used. The search giant also chooses its own font Google Sans more often. That could already be found in Gmail and various places within Android.
The Google Search redesign is not yet available to everyone. The update will roll out in the coming days. You don’t have to do anything for that. You will notice when Google has switched the button for you.
