Advisor to the President of the Republic Nataša Pirc Musar for European affairs will be Zoran Stančič. The decision on his appointment as of June 1 was published today in the Official Gazette.

60 years old Stančič was the head of the European Commission’s representation in Slovenia from 2016 to 2020, and from 2021 he worked as a special advisor at the Directorate General for Information Society in the European Commission. He has worked in the European Commission since 2004, where he first held the position of Deputy Director General for Research and Innovation, then became Deputy Director General for Information Society and Media at the European Commission.

Stančič, a doctoral student in technical sciences, obtained his education at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geodesy of the University of Ljubljana, according to a publication on the website of the European Law Faculty. His first job was as a young researcher. Later, he became a researcher and professor at Slovenian and many foreign universities, the head of the institute at the ZRC SAZU, and then also the deputy director of the ZRC SAZU, and from October 2000 to October 2004 he was the state secretary for science at the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports.
