Scan documents with Google Drive
If you have an Android smartphone or a Google account, you will probably use Drive: Google’s cloud storage service. In addition to storing and sharing documents, this service also offers you the option of scanning documents. Think of an important letter, photo or your ID. Follow these four steps to get started.
- Open the Google Drive app on your Android smartphone;
- Select ‘Add’ at the bottom right of the screen and click on ‘Scan’;
- Take a clear picture of your document;
The result is best if you take the photo from above. If necessary, adjust the scanning area, retake a photo or add a page by clicking ‘Add’.
- Add a title to your document and press ‘Save’.
The document will now appear in your Google Drive.
Google Drive automatically selects the borders of your document. After taking the photo, you can also add different color profiles. This way you can scan photos or images in color and you can give contracts or letters more black and white contrast. This makes the text even easier to read.

When scanning, it is useful to take into account direct light that shines on your document. Think of a lamp or the sun. You can also see this in your scans. It is also possible that your scan is not immediately processed sharply. In Drive it will be sharp. Does not it work? Then try to find a better lit room for your photo scan.
