The Prime Minister claims that SaS is not about the people and the fate of Slovakia. TASR was informed about this by the spokesperson of the movement, Matúš Bystriansky.
“I refuse to leave people at the mercy of extreme energy prices and inflation, as the president also says in the end. Therefore, we submitted proposals to the SaS party for fundamental help to the people, with the understanding that if they support it, Igor Matovič will leave the government. I am disappointed by the reaction of the SaS. As if they were not even interested in the people and the fate of Slovakia, but only looking for an excuse to escape from responsibility,” stated Heger.
The dispute in the coalition has been going on for several weeks. SaS announced its departure from the coalition, demanding the resignation of Matovič from the government. OĽANO refused.
On Wednesday, when SaS ministers were supposed to resign, OĽANO came to the government meeting with measures to solve the energy crisis. According to the movement, if SaS supports them, Matovič will leave the government. SaS is willing to discuss the proposals, but only after Matovič’s departure.
SaS head Richard Sulík submitted his resignation from the position of Minister of Economy on Wednesday morning. He asked the other SaS ministers not to submit their resignations on Wednesday and to wait until Monday (September 5). He added that they are giving Matovič time to resign.
In this context, the President of the Slovak Republic Zuzana Čaputová asked the Prime Minister on Wednesday to submit nominees for the vacant ministerial seats to her in a timely manner. Also, to present as soon as possible the way in which his eventual minority government will gain support for the laws.
