BANJALUKA – The Directorate for Indirect Taxation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has received new prices for cigarettes, which will be valid from June 1.

“The Mostar branch of Ataco forwarded the ITA and the list of retail prices of cigarettes for five types of cigarettes that will be applied from the beginning of next month”it was announced from the ITA.

Thus, from June 1, a box of Davidoff Classic, Gold and Gold Slims will cost 6.40 KM, and a box of Boss Gold and Boss Blue Slims will cost 5.50 KM.

Some cigarettes, such as cigarettes from the Rovinj Tobacco Factory (TDR), are more expensive by 10 to 20 pfennigs per box as of March 1 this year. At the beginning of February, TDR submitted the new retail prices of cigarettes to the Indirect Tax Administration, which came into effect on March 1.

Diva Slims now costs 5.40 KM per box, Filter 160 Gold 5.80 KM, Lucky Strike 5.90 KM, and Rothmans King Size 5.50 KM.

At the end of last year, the Management Board of the BiH Indirect Taxation Administration adopted the Decision on determining the specific and minimum excise duty on cigarettes and smoking tobacco for the year 2023. According to the adopted decision, which is based on the Law on Excise Taxes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, from January 1, 2023, the minimum excise tax is 167.50 KM for 1,000 cigarettes, or 3.35 KM for a pack of 20 cigarettes.

With the new decision, the specific excise duty remained at the same level, ie 1.65 KM for a pack of 20 cigarettes, while the minimum excise duty was increased from 3.33 to 3.35 KM for the same pack, writes Radio Sarajevo.

Excise duty on smoking tobacco is set at 80 percent of the minimum excise duty and will amount to 134 KM instead of the current 133.20 KM per kilogram. Independent newspaper
