The Android security update overview of week 27 – 2020
Daily likes Android Planet inform you about smartphones that are getting an update. This usually concerns devices that receive a version update, for example when they are updated to Android 9.0 (Pie) or Android 10. For this we have created the Android 9.0 update overview and Android 10 update overview. In these articles you can see if and when your device is being updated.
But, let’s not forget about Android security updates. These do not add any new features, but they do keep out rotten stuff like adware, malware and ransomware. Manufacturers roll out these updates all year round, after which we collect them in this weekly overview. Is your smartphone in the list below, but you have not yet received the update? No worries. It may take several days to weeks for all copies of a model to be updated.
Again Samsung Google is too fast. The full S20 series, consisting of three phones, is already completely up to date. The devices run on the latest Android security update, that of July. The manufacturer also updated some cheaper models with other patches.
Nokia last week updated a range of devices to the June Android patch.
Honor updated both the 10 and 20 Pro with the May patch. The devices are therefore slightly behind in terms of security.

The brand new Sony Xperia 1 II has received its first update. It is probably a small patch that fixes some errors, because the Japanese manufacturer does not reveal what exactly changes in the log. Keep an eye on Android Planet next week, because our Sony Xperia 1 II review is coming!
Check the smartphone
Is your device not listed? Which can. Manufacturers release updates all year round, so maybe your device will be included next time. And even if your smartphone is on the list, you may need to be patient. Typically, it will take a few days to a week for an Android security update to roll out to all devices.
So keep an eye on Android Planet for the following overview. For example, download the free app for your smartphone. Speaking of this series: we make this overview together with you, the reader. Do you not see your device in the overview, but have you received an update? Let us know in the comments, and we’ll add it.
