These are wheat varieties that give high yields

The start of wheat sowing and sowing is “just around the corner”. Wheat, next to corn, is one of the most important crops grown in our country. In our country, it is a well-known custom to prepare a rich feast after the mowing is finished. People celebrated the wheat harvest because that way they secured the largest amount of food.

Sowing is one of the most important operations for a good and high-quality yield. Good assembly, rapid sprouting and rooting of the crop directly depend on our agrotechnics and the selected variety. The quality of the seed material should be at a very high level, and the variety should be chosen to be suitable for our agro-ecological conditions.

In the past year, we witnessed that earlier sowing was much better and more suitable because the end of autumn was very rainy and cold. Earlier sowing allows the sown plants to enter the winter period adequately prepared, thus they are more protected from the cold.

When choosing varieties, the most important thing is to pay attention to the genetic potential for yield, but also to the many years of experience of the producer. Grain quality, length of vegetation, tolerance to diseases, resistance to lodging, tolerance to extreme weather conditions are very important characteristics that should be known before the final choice of wheat variety.

There are different varieties on the Serbian market that are recommended. The varieties of wheat that the Galenika-Fitofarmacija company provided to producers have been tested in practice and show their quality. Numerous confirmations from the field are proof of quality.

Most producers immediately after harvest look for the same wheat variety for autumn sowing. The following LG varieties stood out for their quality: AVENUE, ARMSTRONG, ANERI and NIKOL.

AVENUE

  • belongs to the group of the earliest wheat varieties on the Serbian market (very early variety)
  • its early maturity ensures high and stable yields, due to the avoidance of heat shocks
  • the tree is of low growth and forms a large spike without axes
  • it is characterized by excellent resistance to laying
  • it also has a very good tolerance to the most important wheat diseases
  • has excellent yield potential, and many years of experience distinguish Avenue as the most yielding variety on our market
  • a foreign variety that is sown on most areas in Serbia
  • it achieves good results in all regions of our granary and shows extremely high adaptability to different types of soil

ARMSTRONG

  • medium early variety
  • it has a medium-tall tree, it branches well, and it is extremely uniform in the field
  • the most important feature of this variety is the excellent ratio of yield and grain quality
  • it is characterized by “strong” gluten and increased water absorption
  • this variety is the most common choice of our millers and bakers
  • has a high yield potential
  • it is a very stable variety in different years of production
  • it also has good tolerance to the most important diseases such as powdery mildew, rust and septoria

ANERA

  • medium early variety
  • the tree is of medium height and because of this it is more tolerant of lying down, the spike is without axes
  • it also has improved tolerance to fusarosis class, but also to other economically important diseases
  • a variety that easily adapts to different production conditions
  • it combines several positive traits important for yield formation and high hectoliter mass
  • it is also characterized by good tolerance to low temperatures – in the spring it starts vegetation a little later, avoiding the danger of potential frosts
  • it is suitable for different agro-ecological conditions of production

NICOLE

  • medium early variety
  • very fruitful variety with a well-developed spike (it also forms a very large grain)
  • variety with pronounced adaptability to most production conditions
  • has a high tolerance to rust and fusarium wilt
  • the tree is of medium height
  • it is also characterized by a solid tree
  • intensively se bokori

The optimal sowing density for the mentioned varieties is 400-450 germinated grains per m². For more information, you can contact our assistant for field crops, Ana Đorđević.
