Due to the epidemic situation, this year in Uzice, on the river Cetinje, there will be no swimming for the Epiphany Cross.
The decision on that was made on the recommendation of the City Headquarters for Emergency Situations, with the consent of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Uzice.
“The City Headquarters for Emergency Situations pointed out that the epidemic situation in Uzice, despite the trend of a slight decrease in the number of positive for coronavirus on a daily basis, is still uncertain and unstable,” the City of Uzice said in a statement.
It is added that this manifestation is “massive, with contents in which it is not possible to take the necessary anti-epidemic measures, and that there is a risk of endangering the safety of swimmers.”
It is also reminded that there is still an emergency situation in Uzice and that “restrictions are in force regarding the number of persons who can gather in a public place if it is not possible to provide a physical distance of two meters and appropriate personal protection measures, as well as restrictions on holding events. “
Due to all the above, as added, the City Headquarters recommended that this event not be held this year and pointed out that, “if the position of the organizers is to mark the Epiphany in a different way, they must respect all prescribed anti-epidemic measures.”
