On Friday, 138 confirmed cases of covid-19 increased in the Czech Republic. This is the highest increase this week. At the same time, it’s about the same as last Friday. There are about six infected people per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days. The incidence is kept below ten for ten days in a row. This follows from the data of the Ministry of Health. There are 72 patients with coronavirus in hospitals.
The ministry also slightly adjusted the number of newly infected in the previous days. There were 97 of them on Thursday and 108 on Wednesday. From Monday to Thursday the increases decreased, on Friday the trend reversed. A total of 573 infected people have been detected so far this week. There were more than 800 in the first five days of last week.
Since the beginning of the epidemic last March, coronavirus has been detected in 1,666,821 people in the Czech Republic. To date, 1,634,734 have been cured of the disease. 30,296 people have died with covid. So far this week, there have been three victims, one each on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. However, these data may change during further revisions.
The so-called incidence number, ie the number of confirmed cases of the disease per 100 thousand inhabitants in the last seven days, fell only slightly to 6.5 compared to Thursday. The worst situation is currently in Prague, where there are more than 16 cases of coronavirus per 100,000 inhabitants in the past week. It’s an increase over Thursday. In all other regions of the Czech Republic, the incidence is below ten. The best performers are the Karlovy Vary and Hradec Králové regions, in which the incidence number is lower than one.
The reproductive number, ie the average number of infected from one positive test, decreased slightly from Friday’s 0.76 to Saturday’s 0.75. The spread of the epidemic thus slows down, which is true at a reproduction number lower than one. The reproduction number was last above this limit for the last time in mid-April.
The number of hospitalized patients has also been slowly declining in recent days. At the beginning of the week there were 85 of them, now there are a total of 72 people in Czech hospitals with covid. It’s been at least since the first half of last July. 13 people are in a difficult state.
Laboratories performed about 112,000 tests on Friday, at least this week. Compared to last Friday, this is a decrease of approximately 60,000 tested. More than 103,000 tests were preventive, in which the share of positive results has remained below one tenth of a percent for a long time. In the case of diagnostic and epidemiological tests, the positivity is less than one percent.
