There are 2 victims of the shooting at the Mercedes factory in Sindelfingen – Auto-Motor

The task of the investigation will be to find out what led to the fact that a 53-year-old employee of the Mercedes-Benz factory in Sindelfingen took a gun to his workplace on Thursday morning and shot two of his 44-year-old colleagues, also of Turkish nationality. One died on the spot, the other was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but they could not save his life. After the act, the perpetrator allowed the members of the factory’s security service to detain him, a few minutes after the first emergency calls that came in at 7:45 a.m., he allowed the policemen who arrived on the scene to take him into custody without resistance. Not long after, the Stuttgart court ordered his arrest on suspicion of 2nd degree murder. The police finally left the scene at 12:25 p.m.

In Sindelfingen, the S-Class and the EQS electric car are produced in the factory named Factory 56, which was recently modernized with a huge investment, where a development department also operates. According to press reports, the victims are team leaders at the factory, the perpetrator is an external employee of a logistics company, and the political conflict over the upcoming Turkish elections is said to have been the trigger, but this has not been confirmed by official sources. They are investigating how the perpetrator was able to bring the rifle into the factory area, and whether enhanced security measures should be introduced when employees are admitted.
