He is considered a strict anti-abortion opponent – he lets his voters celebrate him and likes to collect donations: the fictitious Bavarian Minister Maximilian Kronberger, portrayed by Thomas Loibl in a convincingly mean and unsympathetic way. When his daughter goes missing, he needs the help of the police. Inspector Lukas Laim (Max Simonischek) has to put aside his personal dislike of the man and his politics. In “Laim and the rabbit heart“, to be seen on Monday at 8.15 p.m. on ZDF, the investigator dives into the not at all exemplary past of a politician.

Laim is surrounded by a somewhat somber aura. Michael Schneider, who also directed the first four episodes, once again makes the main character seem unapproachable. The rich heir who enjoys luxury and at the same time suffers from it, who quarrels with his mother and cannot get rid of the family history. Now his mother has died and Laim – of all people – has to hand over a donation check to the Munich politician Kronberger on her behalf. He reluctantly attends an election campaign event.

Fifth episode of the ZDF crime series “Laim und…”

Then Frau Kronberger (Adina Vetter) appears at the police station. Her 19-year-old daughter Karoline (Lilia Herrmann) has not come home. The mother worries. From the point of view of the police, there is actually no reason to worry, and yet Laim and his colleague Anton Simhandl (Gerhard Wittmann) search Karoline’s room. You find a positive pregnancy test. Did the daughter of the convinced abortion opponent want to have an abortion? Then a dead girl is found.

Laim has since met Anna Jacobi (Marie Leuenberger). Actually, he is currently meeting an escort girl, but he is also happy to flirt with the obviously interested Anna. She works in pregnancy conflict counseling. Can Anna Laim help?

Maximilian Kronberger is said to be looking for his daughter himself. He meets a friend from earlier times, the cosmetic surgeon Hannes Baumann (Martin Brambach). The men seem to share a secret.

A brittle commissioner, his colleague who is disappointed in life, a hypocritical politician and his pregnant daughter form an exciting construct in the fifth episode of the ZDF series “Laim und…”. Pointed dialogues and a coherent screenplay promise a worthwhile crime thriller television evening.
