The Use Of Alsintan Is Believed To Prosper Farmers And Make The Agricultural Sector More Advanced – Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) did not deny that one of the efforts to encourage an advanced, independent and modern agricultural sector is the use of agricultural machinery (Alsintan). “Agricultural mechanization is one of the characteristics of modern agriculture. In the current 4.0 era, agriculture is no longer traditional, but has collaborated with technology,” said Minister of Agriculture SYL.

The existence of alsintan itself is felt by farmers in West Sumatra. In fact, alsintan is one of the important factors in advancing the agricultural sector in West Sumatra. This was acknowledged by the Governor of West Sumatra, Mahyeldi Ansharulla, who is continuing to encourage modernity in the agricultural sector.

Directorate General of Agricultural Infrastructure and Facilities (PSP) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Ali Jamil added, agricultural machinery is not only modernizing, but also able to improve the welfare of farmers. “With the machineries, agricultural productivity increases. When productivity increases, it will have a positive impact on the welfare of farmers,” said Ali.

On the other hand, Ali explained that alsintan makes it easier for farmers to cultivate their agricultural cultivation. In cultivating land, for example, Ali said that alsintan can save time from the usual two to three days for one hectare of land using the traditional method, with agricultural machinery only taking a few hours.

“This means that there are savings in production costs incurred by farmers when they use machine tools. Farmers are getting faster in cultivating the land and carrying out the planting period,” said Ali.

Alsintan is also able to help farmers cultivate their farms to continue to get added value. “From upstream to downstream, this machineries can help farmers to continue to develop their agricultural products,” explained Ali.

He emphasized that with agricultural machinery, farmers are increasingly adapting to the 4.0 era which is marked by the use of technology and agricultural mechanization. “We continue to encourage our farmers to adapt and utilize technology for the development of their agricultural cultivation,” said Ali.

Director of Alsintan at the Directorate General of PSP of the Ministry of Agriculture, Andi Nur Alamsyah added, well-managed alsintan will provide more income to farmers who are members of farmer groups (poktan) and farmer groups combined (gapoktan). In addition, machineries management is also encouraged through UPJA so that its utilization is more effective and optimal.

“That way, farmers will get added value from the results of this machineries rental business,” he said. He also hopes that farmers can maximize the utilization of the machineries provided.
