At the end of his visit to Rome, Volodymyr Zelensky gave an interview to RAI public television’s Porta a Porta political program, in which well-known journalists asked him about the meeting and the war against the aggressor Russia.

“It was an honor for me to meet the Holy Father, but he knows my position: the war is taking place in Ukraine, therefore the (peace) plan must be Ukrainian, we don’t need mediators, we need a just peace,” said the Ukrainian president, adding that he welcomes the Vatican involvement in the implementation of the peace plan developed by Kyiv. “It’s important to make an important point about the end of the war in Ukraine (..) we don’t want to live in chaos,” he declared.

He noted that he is not willing to talk to Russian President Vladimir Putin. – The way out of the situation in Ukraine is a counterattack. When we get to the border of Crimea, Vladimir Putin’s support in Russia will decrease and his environment will put pressure on him to find a way out. Little is missing for this. He believed that the Russian president will not use nuclear weapons because he has a strong will to live, although no one knows what is on his mind. As for the counterattack, the Ukrainian president revealed that significant steps will be taken soon.

He emphasized that if Ukraine falls, Moldova and the Baltic states will follow, and it is better to help Ukraine than to send your children to war.

He added that President Xi Jinping had assured him that China would not provide weapons to Russia.

Volodymyr Zelensky called it a misunderstanding that some European Union countries have introduced a temporary ban on the import of cereals from Ukraine. He noted that they are trying to find a solution, but this would not have happened if Ukraine was a member of the union. He stated that if Europe does not ask for Ukrainian wheat, Africa and Asia are ready to buy it.
