The trick to avoid mosquito bites this summer

The arrival of summer always comes hand in hand with the appearance of mosquitoes. And, with it, the consequent bites. But this year it doesn’t have to be that way: there is a trick to prevent mosquitoes from roaming freely at home. It is super easy and cheap.

Despite using a mosquito net on the windows or using bracelets and sprays repellents, no one gets rid of a bite during the summer months. But there is a strategy to get rid of mosquitoes: make a trap that does not involve a great economic effort.

It’s super easy. You only need a large plastic bottle, adhesive tape or glue, a piece of black cloth or cardboard, water, sugar and yeast.

First you have to build the container. Cut the upper part of the large water bottle that we have prepared and also the spout. The cut part is turned over and glued to the inside of the bottle, with adhesive tape or glue, as you can see in the image below.

Next you have to prepare a concoction with 250 milliliters of water, 50 grams of sugar and 5 grams of baking powder. You will have to heat the water to dissolve the sugar and let it cool to room temperature. Then the yeast is added and poured into the bottle that we already had prepared.

Once the bottle is filled with the liquid, it will have to be covered with a black cloth, although cardboard can also be used. The trap can be left on the ground, hung from the ceiling, or attached to a wall. You just have to wait for the mosquitoes to fall into the trap and stay inside the bottle.
