The Toyota Yaris now also comes from a factory in the Czech Republic

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Czech (TMMCZ) began production of the Yaris – the European car of the year 2021 – at its production plant in Kolin. Along with the Toyota Motor Manufacturing France (TMMF) plants, the TMMCZ becomes the second European factory to produce the best-selling car in the region, the Yaris model.

The introduction of the second model marks an important milestone for TMMCZ (formerly TPCA), after the factory became wholly owned by Toyota Motor Europe in January 2021. Toyota has invested over 180 million euros in the reconstruction of the factory for the production of A and B segment vehicles on its TNGA B-platform (Toyota New Global Architecture). The factory’s capacity has now been expanded, and three shifts have been introduced to increase Yaris production, as well as due to the introduction of the new 2022 Aygo X model.

Toyota’s investment now also enables the production of hybrid and electric vehicles at TMMCZ plants, confirming the success of the Yaris Hybrid, which accounts for 80% of Yaris’ sales mix in Europe. Hybrid-electric powertrains for TMMCZ and TMMF are manufactured at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Poland.
