The only son of a teacher couple drowned while taking a bath in the river at Jajira in Shariatpur and is missing.

The missing boy’s name is Murchalin (13). He is an eighth grade student of Jazeera Shamsul Uloom Kamil Madrasa.

According to sources, the missing Murchalin is the only son of Jazeera University College ICT teacher Master Mojibur Rahman and Jazeera Shamsul Uloom Kamil Madrasah ICT teacher Hafsa Akhtar. Although they are permanent residents of Khoratla in Jainagar UP, they used to live on rent in Ghiyasuddin Madbar’s house in Akkel Mahmud Munsi Kandir Shahi Masjid area of Jajira municipality.

On Friday (September 2) at around eleven o’clock, along with his classmate Afnan (13) and a few friends, Kazirhatmukhi went to take a bath in the Launchghat area of the Kirtinasha river from Shafiq Kazi junction in Jazeera.

At that time, they were jumping into the river from a bulkhead on the river bank and bathing. Besides, they crossed the river several times ignoring the strong current of the river. After crossing the river several times, Murchalin suddenly drowned.

Murchalin’s classmate Afnan said, We jumped from the bulkhead and crossed the river. But Murchalin jumped off the bulkhead and dived with us and did not rise again. We crossed the river and noticed this and got scared. After searching for a while, I informed his family.

Master Mojibur Rahman, the father of the missing Murchalin, lamented and said, “My son was talking about taking a bath.” I didn’t understand how it happened. God knows where my son drowned.

Immediately after the incident, local people gathered around the river. Locals searched the river a lot, but due to the strong current in the river, it was not possible to search well, as a result of which no trace of the missing Murchalin was found.

On the other hand, the rescue workers from Jazeera Fire Station came after receiving the news, but they could not search because they did not have a diving team. As a result, they informed the experienced divers through the seniors to come to the rescue.

Station Master of Jazira Police Station Enamul Haque Suman told Daily Adhikari, “We went there as soon as we got the news. Due to the strong current in the river and our lack of divers, we were unable to conduct a search. The experienced diving team has been informed, they will come and search the river.
