Stebno (Lounsko) – The state will help the storm-damaged village of Stebno, which is part of Kryr in Louny, similar to the villages in South Moravia. This resulted from the statement of Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO), who came to the village. Even in Stebna on Thursday, storms, wind and maybe a tornado destroyed roofs and houses and broke trees. Babiš said that Minister for Regional Development Klára Dostálová (ANO) and Minister of Agriculture Miroslav Toman (ČSSD) will come to Stebno on Wednesday to talk to the locals about what is needed.
Whether Stebno near Kryr in the Louny region was destroyed by a tornado or an extremely strong storm, experts in the village found out today with the help of a special radar. According to meteorologist Radek Tomšů from the Ústí nad Labem branch of the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (CHMI), the investigation has already been completed. He told CTK.
“It is necessary to say that there was a tornado here as well, the houses are also affected. And we agreed with the mayor that Mrs. Dostálová will come on Wednesday at 09:00 in the morning and discuss with the mayor what we will do for the village,” Babiš told reporters. . He promised 50 cubic meters of wood, which the Forests of the Czech Republic are to release to the affected people for repairs. According to him, there will be mobile teams in the affected municipalities, where people will be able to order help.
The mayor of Kryr, Miroslav Brda, welcomed the prime minister’s promise, but as he said, he had heard many promises in more than 30 years of his care, so he would wait until the reality. “In our opinion, it would be best if the government provided us with some amount in one package and feel free to come and see what we did with them in a year. If we have to fill out applications and forms, we will not get the money next year,” he fears. Brda. Therefore, he preferred to ask the Prime Minister to give him his promises.
In Stebno, the wind mostly damaged farm buildings, barns and the like. According to the mayor, the wind apparently turned into a tornado in the final, destroying about 25 houses in Stebna, which is about 40 percent of local real estate. Some houses lost only part of the roof, others the wind carried the roof completely. Trees are broken, houses have broken windows, and cars standing on the street are damaged. The mayor estimates the total damage at 80 to 100 million crowns.
About twenty people today worked to repair the damage in the park near the local church. Of the trees, only the lower and shrubs survived the storm. The roof on the church tower is without a part of the tiles. “The locals are doing it here, they built it themselves like this,” the mayor described. As he said, if the municipality obtains any funds, it would be optimal if it was possible to help the municipalities of Blatno and St. Petersburg, which were also affected by the wind, although not to such an extent.
