Negotiations between healthcare providers and the General Health Insurance have been going on for the last few days and unfavorable contracts have been signed under pressure. It is no longer just hospitals and dispensaries that criticize the state’s actions, but also spas have been added.
On Thursday morning, spa officials said they were rejecting contracts with the state insurance company. However, the situation changed during the day and the bathers claim that they were pushed by the General Health Insurance.
“It’s a timed one-sided coercive enforcement of one’s own design. Even if they are pushed into the contracts, this does not mean that the insured of the General Health Insurance Company has paid for complete health care, it is not possible. The spa will have to deal with this with additional payments, “Janka Zálešáková, president of the Slovak Spa Association, explained the result of signing the new contracts.
According to Zálešáková, the management of the insurance company was not at all interested in legal and financial analyzes or professional medical arguments, and therefore, according to her, it is not possible to talk about fair dealing and interest in the quality of health care.
“Finally, when they admitted that the price did not really take into account current costs, they transferred all the responsibility to the Ministry of Finance and the budget,” she said.
However, according to health care providers, this is not a matter for the state insurance company, but for blackmail.
“We asked them to increase our payments to 62 euros, because the increase in energy prices and personnel costs this year does not cover their proposed prices, they offered us 47 and did not even try to make a compromise. I rate the cooperation with the state insurance company on behalf of the Slovak Spa Association as the worst in history, “says Michal Fajin, general director of the FBLR St. Michal in China.
Just on Wednesday, the Association of Outpatient Providers announced that from April, three million policyholders in 1,700 outpatient clinics will pay for their own health care. However, there was a change on Thursday and the state health insurance company announced that it would tighten the contractual conditions in the coming days. However, there are still outpatient clinics of the Association of Private Doctors, which will negotiate new contracts at the end of April. The president of the association, Marián Šóth, claims that they do not plan to accept the offers submitted to them. The health workers point out that the new contractual conditions, which are presented to them, especially by the state insurance company, do not reflect the increase in energy, rent or material prices and are not enough for a legal increase in salaries.
Despite the dissatisfaction of health care providers, the Minister of Health claims that the CEO of the General Health Insurance Company, Richard Strapko, has his trust. The issue of co-financing health care thus remains open, despite the signing of new agreements. “Those contracts are still unfavorable and what the state will not pay will have to be paid by the citizen,” Zálešáková emphasized.
Not only the state insurance company, but also the other two private Dôvera and Union still do not have concluded contracts with the Association of Hospitals of Slovakia, which covers about 80 smaller regional hospitals. They also threatened to terminate the contracts from April, but said on Thursday that negotiations would continue at least until April 30 at current price conditions.
