Castmi was created thinking about the needs of the audiovisual world and the performing arts, such as cinema, theatre, television or advertising. Now it wants to become a mandatory stop for any audiovisual production. The startup will be present at the Web Summit.
“We intend to offer producers, directors and casting directors a new tool in the casting phase for their productions, making the process simpler, faster and less expensive”, says M&P Henrique Pina, director and founder of Castmi. In this way, actors, be they less experienced ones, have access to castings and productions. “The entire platform was designed to be a meeting point between the various parties. Any professional in the arts can have a profile page, where they can display their showreel or résumé, publish or search for work, exchange messages with other users and use the most basic functionalities of the platform for free”, he lists. There are currently over 1,500 actors and over 150 registered producers.
One of the novelties that will be presented by Castmi at the Web Summit is the expansion of the areas of audiovisual production. From now on, screenwriters, art directors, assistant directors, makeup artists, heads of wardrobes, editors, among others, can register with Castmi, create their profile page and start looking for job opportunities. “This revolutionizes the producer’s experience on the platform, and it will soon be possible to create and manage a project entirely through Castmi, associating to it several job advertisements and casting calls”. It will also be possible to register and use the platform regardless of the country of residence. This will allow a producer to seek out and recruit artists and technicians from other countries, opening the door to international work.
“Over these first two years we operated exclusively in Portugal with very few marketing and dissemination actions. We are proud to have created more than a thousand connections between producers and actors. Now, the new platform is all set up with the potential to cross the border and embrace international markets, starting with the European one”, assures Henrique Pina. Also in Castmi’s plans is the creation of a new type of user, that of the agent, to allow agents with agents to have their accounts managed by their respective agents.
