What they did was help the men who were at the front with wine, water, food, or by taking them to the hospital when they were wounded, but if necessary they also took the rifle, as explained in the book.”

The argument of the novel is supported by “two protagonists from different social spheres. One is Marta, from a humble family, wife of a carpenter, housewife with a small child, and the other is Rosa, who comes from a wealthy family, staying in a castle outside Girona, and father millionaire They become friends, because when they were little, Marta’s father took care of Rosa’s father’s land. Thus, both the one and the other do everything possible and more to defend their people”.

Although it talks about the experiences of Marta and Rosa, who were on the front line, the book blood ties it also aims to be a tribute to all the women who strove to structure society from the rear with the aim of preserving their lives with a minimum of dignity.

“The novel is broken down into 43 chapters, and each one has a woman’s name. They had a peculiarity: they didn’t really fight for a flag, but they did it to defend their families and their city. This is the fundamental difference: wars are fought by men but won by women. In addition, they are an example to know how to fight against violence against women”.
