Prague – The negotiation team of the Prague coalition Spolu (ODS, TOP 09, KDU-ČSL) will meet with the Pirates for the second time today at 15:00. They will discuss possible cooperation in the management of the capital city. They met for the first time in a bilateral meeting a week ago when they failed to reach an agreement. Spolu representatives have repeatedly declared that they are interested in a coalition on the government’s plan.

According to a statement from last week, the pirates insist that they will not sit with criminally prosecuted persons in the possible council. This may mean a complication, because Prague’s KDU-ČSL leader Jan Wolf, who succeeded in the fourth place of the Spolu candidate, is facing indictment due to the case of sports subsidies at the municipality. Mayor Zdeněk Hřib (Pirates) also later stated on Twitter that the Pirates are also able to have council members devote themselves to the position full-time. Spolu leader and mayoral candidate Bohuslav Svoboda wants to remain an MP and continue working as a doctor.

After the last meeting with the Pirates, Svoboda said that he refuses to open negotiations with any conditions. He did not want to predict what would happen if the Pirates did not change their approach. Spolu representatives also met with the STAN team last Thursday, with whom they confirmed that they are interested in negotiating a coalition, but have not yet concluded specific agreements.

The winning coalition Spolu won 19 mandates in the 65-member Prague council in the elections. ANO finished second with 14 mandates and Pirates third with 13 representatives. Prague Sobě has 11 mandates, five seats were occupied by the STAN movement and the sixth is the SPD with three mandates.
