On the first day of October, in the 30th round of Premier League B held at Tabasalu Arena, the representative team of Läänemaa football club suffered a big 0:7 loss against Tabasalu, which is at the top of the table.

Since the second half of August, Läänemaa had shown a very hearty game. In that period, there was a five-game undefeated streak as well as narrow defeats to FC Tallinn and Tallinna JK Legion teams, which were staffed with players from the Premier League. In the last match against Tabasalu at the end of July, the Westerners also managed to beat the then leader of the table 1:0 at home.

In the past, the quick success of the opponent has become decisive for the team’s game. That’s what happened this time too. Tabasalu took the lead in the 15th minute, and seven minutes later they earned a penalty, which they successfully converted. In the 45th minute, Tabasalu scored its third goal, and at the half time it was a 0:3 loss.

In the second half, the opponents earned two additional penalties and scored two unanswered goals in Läänemaa’s net. All in all, a big-scoring 0:7 loss.

The head coach of the winning team, Theimo Tülp, was understandably not satisfied with the result. “Several personal mistakes and the absence of some key players became decisive this time,” said Tülp.

The columnist also pointed out that the players were showing signs of fatigue. “Maybe we weren’t the best prepared for this game,” he added. Every autumn, a situation arises where students head to the capital again, where training also moves. Players living in Haapsalu have to find an opportunity to travel several hundred kilometers to participate in training sessions, and thus the activity of participating in training sessions decreases significantly.

The team will continue its fight to stay in the league on Sunday, October 9 at Haapsalu city stadium, where Tartu JK Tammeka U21 will be its playing partner.
