The sub-brand of ASUS would turn the heads of gamers with an ultra-fast update.
Computex 2023, the most important computing trade fair of the summer season, is in full swing, at which ASUS presented the latest gaming monitor from Republic of Gamers, i.e. the ROG sub-brand.
ASUS will only make the ROG Strix XG258QN display globally available sometime this year – expectedly in the last quarter – but it was already possible to see what the 24.5-inch display – referred to as 25-inch in ASUS communication – will be able to do.
In addition to the gaming monitor, the manufacturer also presented the ROG Swift PG38UQ and ROG Swift OLED PG49WDCD monitors, but these they are “only” capable of a 144 Hz refresh rate, while the maximum refresh rate of the ROG STrix XG259QN is 380 Hz.
The heart of the monitor is the aforementioned 24.5-inch IPS panel, which also comes with a VESA DisplayHDR 400 certificate, with a native resolution of 1080p and a response time of 1 ms (GtG). There is no shortage of connectors either, there are two USB 3.2 Type-A connectors, a 3.5 mm jack, as well as DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0. However, the built-in speaker and USB-C connection are missing.
The monitor ticks at 360 Hz at idle, but this can be increased up to 380 Hz if necessary. The screen also supports AMD FreeSync Premium to avoid image tearing. In addition, Adaptive Snyc with variable refresh rate (VRR) and ASUS’ own ELMB-sync technology were also included, which reduces the stroboscope effect by suppressing the backlight, while being compatible with the VRR solution.
Our on-site reporting was supported by the organizer of Computex, TAITRA. THE The Budapest branch of Taiwan Trade Center is one of the 60 offices of TAITRA, which supports the joint work of Hungarian and Taiwanese businesses.
