Even in the hall, the fans of the triple jump experienced a competitive attempt over 18 m. Fabrice Hugues Zango set an indoor world record with a performance of 18.07 m from the last series at a meeting in Aubier, France.

The African recorder from Burkina Faso improved the previous historical maximum of 17.92 m by Frenchman Teddy Tamgh from March 6, 2011 from the indoor European Championships in Paris by 15 cm. Thirty-one-year-old Tamgho is currently the coach of the new world recorder.

Zango also entered athletic history as the first African (man) to set an official world record outside or indoors in one of the jumping disciplines.
