In his prayers, Prime Minister Eduard Heger (OĽaNO) asks that the Virgin Mary, who is the patroness of Slovakia, constantly patronize Slovakia and the Slovaks in the difficult times and trials we are experiencing. He stated this on the social network after he attended the holy mass in Šaštín on Thursday.

At the same time, the prime minister asks in his prayers that we show love to each other. “To believe in humanity, respect and goodness. To show solidarity, especially in times when war is raging in our neighbor,” said Heger. At the same time, for us to have hope that even in pain and fear we can find the strength to change things for the better.
“For several centuries, the story of one woman has taught us to approach life with humility and to respond to hatred with love and patience. It does not mean accepting evil,” said the prime minister. According to him, it means that even in darkness we should be light.
In the spirit of memories of the Pope’s visit
This year’s National Pilgrimage to Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows in Šaštín is special in that it is carried in the spirit of memories of last year’s visit of the Holy Father Francis to Slovakia. President Zuzana Čaputová announced this on the social network, who participated in the holy mass on Thursday.
“The message he conveyed to us in this very place is still relevant and alive,” said the head of state. She recalled that in Šaštín, Pope Francis also spoke the following words: “A faith that is not abstract, but encourages us to empathize and be in solidarity with those in need, this faith, according to God’s style, humbly and without fuss, removes the pain of the world and irrigates it with salvation.”

According to the president, we are confronted with the troubles and worries of our loved ones every day, but it is an encouraging sign that we can also actively help them. “That the love for one’s neighbor and the compassion that Francis talks about take the form of specific attitudes and actions,” she said.
“It is important that we remain united in better and worse times. And although we differ in our opinions or in our beliefs, let us be united by the belief in the common good,” said Čaputová. At the same time, he believes that the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows is an opportunity to feel this mutual closeness.
