The police hand out fines and close the hookah café in Brabrand

Brabrand. 24 men are charged with violating the assembly ban after they were gathered at a hookah café in the Aarhus suburb of Brabrand on Sunday night.

This is what Per Bennekov, duty officer at East Jutland Police, says.

– At 00.30 we pass a hookah café on Holmstrupgårdvej in Brabrand, where we can see that there are a lot of people gathered, says the duty manager.

When the officers enter the café, they meet 24 men aged 20 to 33 years.

– Of course they must not be there. They must not be assembled at all. So they are all charged with violating the assembly ban and can look forward to receiving a greeting from us, says Per Bennekov with reference to a fine.

During the visit, police closed the hookah café.

The temporary assembly ban means that it is basically illegal to hold and participate in indoor and outdoor events where there are more than five people present.

The fine for violating the temporary ban and for not complying with the police order is set at DKK 2,500 in first-time cases.

A number of corona restrictions will be eased from 1 March, but Denmark will continue to be partially closed down. Among other things, the assembly ceiling for five people has been extended to 5 April, with the exception of Bornholm, where the ceiling is raised from five to ten people.
