Prague – The risk index of the anti-epidemic system PES, which was originally intended to govern measures against the spread of covid-19 in the Czech Republic, is currently at 75 points. He is thus close to the fourth of five levels of alert. In the previous five days, after adjusting the data, it was 80 points. Behind the decrease by five points is the reduction of the share of hospitalized, in whom covid-19 was proven in the hospital, below 45 percent. The reproduction number has risen to almost 1.18 to date. It follows from the current data on the web Ministry of Health.
Initially, the PES index was intended to guide measures against the spread of coronavirus, but now its value is no longer relevant, the main indicator for the government being the occupancy of hospitals. The system is divided into five levels of alert according to a point score, which is calculated on the basis of selected epidemiological parameters.
In addition to the simplified reproductive number and the proportion of hospitalized for whom covid-19 was only demonstrated in hospital, the calculation is based on the average number of infected per 100,000 inhabitants in two weeks and the fortnightly average of infected among the elderly. These two indicators have deteriorated further compared to the previous day, their numbers have been growing steadily in recent days. The average number of newly infected covid-19 per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days rose to 1151, the fortnightly average of infected among seniors to 832.
The reproduction number indicating how many on average one positive person infects other people has remained above one, with one exception since the end of January. If it falls below this limit, it means that the epidemic is slowing down.
In the Czech Republic, measures for the highest, fifth level of PES alert have been in force since 27 December. Since mid-January, the anti-epidemic score has been held in the fourth degree for a month. It fell to the fifth on February 14, to this day it has returned to the fourth. When the PES system was introduced last mid-November, Health Minister Jan Blatný (for YES) said that mitigation should be considered if the risk index remained in the lower range for at least seven days, and three days were enough to tighten it.
